What type of food do you serve at Gorse?

We cook with the best ingredients that Wales has to offer, at the peak of their deliciousness. We work with a talented network of Welsh growers, artists, potters, farmers and fishermen. We take all of this and try to create an experience that is uniquely Welsh, an experience that showcases our time and place, a snapshot of our little part of the world. We are respectful of our culinary heritage, but we’re also not afraid to reimagine it through a modern lens. You won’t find rarebit or cawl on our menus. But you will certainly nearly always find lamb, Welsh farmhouse cheeses, cockles, leeks and seaweeds. Click here to find our most up to date sample menus.

What is your largest table size?

We are a small, intimate restaurant and therefore our tables are only available for up to a maximum of six guests, with a limit of one booking per service. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate large groups and parties and are not able to split larger groups across multiple tables.

Are you working sustainably?

Sustainability is extremely important to us. We offer a short choice menu at lunch and set menus at dinner in order to eliminate food waste. We work with a tight circle of Welsh growers, farmers, fishermen and local artisans who supply us with the vast majority of materials we use at Gorse. The majority of our produce is grown or reared adhering to organic or biodynamic principles. We also work with suppliers in the wider UK, but do not use imported fruit, vegetables, meat or fish.

Do you cater for dietary restrictions?

We strive to make Gorse as inclusive as possible and accommodate for most dietary requirements and allergies with notice. Please note, however, that we do not cater for vegans or those with a dairy free diet. Please make us aware of any requirements upon booking or at latest 48 hours before you dine with us.

Can I cancel or amend my booking?

All guests are required to provide card details to secure a reservation. We take a £25 deposit for our lunch menu, £35 deposit for our seven course menu and a £50 deposit for our dinner menu. Please note that we are unable to issue a refund for any deposits taken for our tasting menu reservations when cancelled or amended (drop in covers) within 72 hours prior to the booking. Please note that all refunds will be issued minus a small card transaction fee. If you need to cancel within 72 hours of your reservation, please contact us directly through hello@gorserestaurant.co.uk.

The date I would like to dine is unavailable, do you operate a waiting list?

If there is a specific date that you would like to dine with us, but it is showing unavailable on our website, please contact hello@gorserestaurant.co.uk and we will contact you should any tables come available.

Do you have a dress code?

We don’t have a dress code at Gorse. Please feel free to wear whatever makes you most comfortable.

Do I need a reservation?

All of our reservations are available on a first come, first serve basis. While we are happy to take walk-ins, please be aware that space is often limited and it is highly recommended to make a booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Do you welcome children to the restaurant?

Children are welcome to dine at Gorse. We do not offer a dedicated children’s menu. Children are welcome to enjoy the same menu offering as other guests. If children are joining but do not plan to dine, please make us aware at the time of making the reservation, as this will be subject to availability. As we have a small dining room, we are sadly unable to accommodate pushchairs and we do not have highchairs.

How long do the menus take?

Our four course lunch menu takes around ninety minutes, our seven course menu takes just over two hours and our dinner menu lasts around two and a half hours. This is based on a table of two and is subject to various factors that may affect the overall duration of the meal. Should you have a time constraint, please inform a member of the team upon arrival.

When are you open?

We operate the following booking time slots.

Lunch: Thursday to Saturday 12.00 - 14.00

Dinner: Wednesday to Saturday 18.30 - 20.00
